Where to Find Your VIN (and Why We Need It for Your PCM)

When you order a programmed engine computer, we ask for one thing: your VIN. It’s the 17-character code that tells us exactly how to flash your module so it works the moment you install it. Here’s where to find it and why it matters.

Where your VIN is

• Driver’s-side dashboard — look through the windshield at the base of the glass on the driver’s side; you’ll see the VIN on a small plate.
• Driver’s door jamb — open the driver’s door and check the sticker on the door or the frame.
• Your documents — it’s on your registration, title, and insurance card.
• Under the hood or on the engine bay — some vehicles have it stamped there too.

Why we need it

A modern engine computer isn’t universal — it has to carry your vehicle’s identity, anti-theft data, and the exact calibration for your engine and options. Your VIN lets us program all of that before the unit ships, so it installs plug and play with no dealer visit. Without it, you’d be stuck paying a shop to code the module after it arrives.
